It’s a fantastic must do! The Rotorua Walking Festival is a great weekend of fun, fellowship, and non competitive leisure walking now in the 17th year. It is not a competition or an overnight walk but will provide leisure walkers with great scenery, fun, fellowship, and a real sense of achievement when completed.
There is a 10km each day, 21km half marathon and 42km full marathon on Saturday, 20km and 30km on Sunday. On Saturday the walks go through some of the stunning bush and forest scenery tracks in the 'Redwoods' and 'Whaka' forests. Then on Sunday the walks go through the city suburbs, CBD, gardens and parks, thermal reserves, lakeshore bird sanctuary and points of Rotorua historic and cultural interest. Hundreds of overseas, out of town, and local walkers participate each year in this leisure event of fun, fellowship, and entertainment, with a real sense of achievement (medals and certificates are awarded) when completed. You are invited to come on your own or make up a group. You will soon make more friends or meet up with your old ones walking in Rotorua.
